Hamsphere 4 Freeze....
2015-01-24 19:37
Hi all,

I'm having a problem where the Hamsphere interface freezes, becomes unresponsive, but the audio continues.

Attempting to close the program by right clicking the icon in the task bar and selecting close: fails. It must be closed through the task manager.

I'm up to date on Java, on Win 7 64, and the machine was built in the last 3 months.

Is this a known issue?? Or am I experiencing something new?

I have the same here, at least from time to time. Quite often lately. I am on Win 7 64 and lates Java. Could it be a memory error due to flooding?

Hi,

I can't confirm it on Windows 7 (32). Indeed the sound stucks sometimes and there is no function possible, but never the whole program and I think it's depending on the current server-load. I can always close it with the normal function ("Power") and restart it.

Maybe you can try to install it under the 32-bit folder and run it in this mode. I'm not sure if it is a good idea to run HamSphere in 64-bit mode.

For explanation: There are two different program-folder in 64-bit versions of Windows. 1. the "x64" (aka "program" only) and then a "x86" folder.
The x64 is ONLY for real 64-bit Applications! All other should be installed in the x86 folder and be started from that point.
Thats very important to keep Windows (and his Applications) stable.
x86 means a special virtual sub-system on x64 Windows platforms (WOW64) and that gives you e.g. a special memory-management. .

Thx Jörg. Very good clue. Reinstalled it in x86 folder and everything works perfectly fine so far.

On you keyboard press [WIN] + [E] to open the file-explorer.
Click on "Computer" and in the main-frame on your system-drive (normally "System C:\")

There you should find both folders, a "program" and a "program (x86)". (otherwise you have a 32-bit version only)
Install HamSphere in the second one.
